Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry
The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the premier trade body representing the export oriented industry of Sialkot. The Chamber was established in 1982 and the late Mr. A. D. Bhutta was its founder President.
Sialkot is known the world over for rich industrial heritage. The items produced in Sialkot are of international standard and are appreciated all over the world. To safeguard the interests of the Business Community, the Sialkot Association of Trade and Industry was formed in 1976 and it was affiliated with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was decided by the pioneers of the local industry to get the existing Association to the level of Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Association adopted the necessary resolution in the meeting held on December 12, 1979 for taking up the matter with the Ministry of Commerce. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry passed a similar resolution on July 28, 1981. The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry was incorporated under Companies Act, 1913 vide License No. 24 dated July 15, 1982 issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan under section 3 of Trade Organization Ordinance, 1961. The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry was formally affiliated with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on August 17, 1982.
Objectives
- To promote, aid, develop, stimulate trade and protect the economic interest of Pakistan in general and in particular of those in Sialkot engaged in trade, industry and services;
- To consider, all questions connected with trade, industry and services and to initiate and / or support necessary action connected therewith;
- To consider, support or oppose legislative or other government measures affecting the economic interest of businessmen and Industrialists and also make representations to Government on grievances, if any ;
- To adjust controversies between members of the Chamber;
- To collect and circulate statistics and other information relating to trade, industry and services;
- To arbitrate in settlement of disputes arising out of commercial transactions between parties willing and agreeing to abide by the judgment and decision of the Chamber;
- To form a code of practice to simplify and facilitate transactions of business and to frame bye-laws, rules and regulations for the officers of the Chamber to carry out various objects of the Chamber;
- To communicate with the Chambers of Commerce & Industry or public bodies within or outside Pakistan and to concert and promote measures for the protection of trade, industry and services and the labour engaged therein and to remove mutual hardships;
- To establish a commercial and statistical library;
Keeping in view the need of time Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry has established Women Resource Centre at its Premises.
